What Is the Progression of Mobility Devices?

Updated: Dec 2, 2018

"Should I use a walker or a cane?" " How long will it be until I don't have to use the walker anymore?" "I want one of those walkers with the seat when I leave here... Can I get one of those?"

These are just a few of the questions I'm commonly asked regarding mobility devices. Because everyone's recovery is unique, there aren't general answers to give, but what I've tried to do here is provide you a base of knowledge related to the typical progression of devices.

If you do find yourself asking these questions, your therapist will help you determine the device that is right for you and guide you in your transition from one to the next!
